Dear Market Basket Community,
All of us at Market Basket share the ongoing concern regarding COVID-19. We want to assure our customers that we have a proactive effort in place to safeguard the well-being of our customers, associates, and suppliers while doing our best to maintain food inventories in our stores. Please be aware that all Market Basket stores are open every day from 7:00am – 8:00pm for the general public.
Every day from 6:00am - 7:00am, customers 60 and over are invited to shop during pre-opening hours. We ask all to respect this accommodation for Senior shopping hours.
Foremost in our mind, we want to share information about the preventive measures that we have implemented to keep our stores safe.
Sanitation & Hygiene
In addition to our high standards for cleanliness, and as an extra precaution, we have increased the frequency of cleaning all regularly touched contact surfaces including door handles, windows, registers, counters, tables, chairs, handle baskets, carriage handles, restroom facilities, and additional common areas.
We have increased communication with all associates regarding sanitation practices and essential hygiene.
Protocols are in place to emphasize proper hand washing and hygiene practices. Specifically, all associates have been reminded to wash hands often for at least 20 seconds with warm, soapy water.
Hand sanitizer continues to be made available to associates.
Associates who handle or prepare ready to eat foods are required to wear gloves and change them often, combined with frequent hand washing.
Checkout areas, deli slicers, and additional equipment are being wiped down and disinfected at least every 4 hours.
All carriages are sanitized multiple times throughout the day.
Our associates and business partners are required to wear a facial covering while working in all store locations.
All stores have signs encouraging customers and associates to wash hands frequently, use hand sanitizer, and use disinfectant wipes.
All stores are following government regulations regarding facial covering requirements in public spaces. Signs are posted at the entrance of each location and we ask customers to please take note of the requirements for their local store.
All stores have implemented guidelines for social distancing. One way aisle directions and designated areas for waiting in line (such as the registers) are indicated with both signs and floor markings.
Food sampling is discontinued at this time.
In Store seating is open with modifications for social distancing.
Associates and vendors are reminded to:
- Discontinue shaking hands.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick or if you are caring for someone who is sick at home.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then properly discard the tissue.
Associates will be sent home if they are experiencing symptoms.
Potentially vulnerable associates are encouraged to stay home to prevent exposure to potential illness.
Time off requests for associates related to the COVID-19 will be granted immediately.
CDC guidelines suggest that anyone (customers, associates, and vendors) that is experiencing symptoms commonly associated with the Coronavirus refrain from going to public places and to contact their doctor.
Plexiglass shields have been installed at registers in all locations for the protection of cashiers and customers.
All locations have implemented one-way aisles to enhance and enforce social distancing in our stores.
We are working with suppliers to keep high-demand products in stock, as well as replenishing supplies in a timely fashion.
We have implemented limits on select items in the highest demand.
