Shaved Steak Recipes

Steak Bomb
The New England version of Philly Cheesesteak! Packed with more meats, more veggies, and even more flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 package Market Basket Shaved Beef (14 oz.)
- 1/4 lb. genoa salami, cut up (Optional)
- 1/4 lb. pepperoni, sliced (Optional)
- 1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1-2 tbsp oil of choice
- 4-6 slices provolone cheese
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4-6 sub rolls
Directions:
- Prep the ingredients by slicing the vegetables and optional meats (if using), set aside. Loosen up the shaved beef in the package.
- Heat a large skillet/pan to medium heat, then add a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of oil. Add the peppers and onions, cooking until soft and caramelized, for about 10 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms, saute until soft and tender.
- Remove vegetables from the pan and set aside. turn up the heat to medium-high.
- Add the shaved steak, tossing quickly until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add slices of salami and/or pepperoni until heated through, then mix in the veggies.
- Place the provolone cheese on top of the veggie meat mix, let them melt for a minute.
- Remove from heat. Prepare the sandwich rolls by spreading a thin layer of mayonnaise on the inside of the rolls.
- With your tool of choice (spatula, slotted spoon, etc), scoop up the mixture into the sandwich to your liking. Serve immediately!
Mongolian Beef
Ingredients:
- 1 package Market Basket shaved beef (14 oz.)
- 2-3 tsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp garlic, finely minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 2/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 3-6 scallions, chopped
Serving Suggestions:
- Steamed broccoli or roasted veggies of choice,
- Cooked brown or white rice
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Directions:
- Prepare a large mixing bowl, toss the shaved beef with cornstarch, until evenly coated. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan, heat the vegetable oil, then add garlic and ginger, sautéing for 30 seconds. Add in the soy sauce and brown sugar, then bring to a simmer. Stir constantly over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and sauce is reduced slightly, for about 4 minutes. Set aside.
- Prepare a plate or paper towel lined tray, set aside. In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil if needed, sauté the shaved steak in batches. Once browned, remove the cooked steak on to the plate or tray. Repeat with remaining meat, adding oil as needed.
- Pour off or lightly wipe away any remaining oil in the pan. Heat the pan again to medium high heat. Add all of the cooked meat into the pan, then pour the sauce over the meat. Add the scallions, stirring constantly for about 3 minutes until meat is reheated and well mixed and glazed with the sauce.
- Serve along with rice or cooked vegetables. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes or sesame seeds, to taste.
Shaved Steak Fajitas
Ingredients:
- 1 package Market Basket shaved beef (14 oz.)
- 6 tortillas
- 2 bell peppers, sliced in strips
- 1 onion, sliced in strips
- 1 cup salsa of choice
- 2 tbsp ground cumin
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- olive oil
- chopped cilantro (optional)
Directions:
- Heat a large pan over medium heat. Cook the shaved beef in batches, as it cooks quickly. Season each batch with sprinkle of onion powder and salt, cook until brown. Set aside.
- In the same pan, add the sliced peppers and onions. Add a light dash of olive oil, chili powder ,and ground cumin.
- Sautee for about 6-7 minutes, or until the veggies are slightly tender. Set aside.
- Warm the tortillas in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
- Assemble the meat and peppers with the tortillas, add salsa, cilantro, and other favorite toppings, to taste.
