MARKET BASKET GINGERBREAD HOLIDAY SHOWDOWN

The holiday season is upon us and this year we’re excited to introduce a new gingerbread decorating contest! Show us a photo of your creative Gingerbread House or Gingerbread Cookies for a chance to win a $500, $250, or $100 Market Basket Gift Card in our Gingerbread Holiday Showdown.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:59pm.

The Gingerbread Holiday Showdown will be split into two contests: Gingerbread House Showdown and Gingerbread Cookie Showdown. Customers may enter 1 entry for either one of the contests, or may submit 1 entry per both. On December 12th, the Gingerbread House submission with the most votes and the Gingerbread Cookie submission with the most votes will be the winners of this year’s Gingerbread Holiday Showdown. Two additional entries will be selected from all eligible submissions to receive a prize, see below for full details.

ELIGIBILITY

Submission entry period runs from November 19, 2025 (10am ET) – December 3, 2025 (11:59pm ET). Submissions must feature real gingerbread houses and/or gingerbread cookies and cannot use AI or found imagery. 

This contest is open to legal residents of MA, ME, NH, VT, RI, or CT. Photos must be submitted by participants who are 18+ years old at the time of entry, but individuals under 18 years old are encouraged to help make the gingerbread house/cookies. Associates and third-party workers of Market Basket are not eligible to win. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited. Promotion not affiliated with Meta (Instagram, Facebook, Threads) or X (formerly Twitter). By participating, you agree fully and unconditionally to the terms and conditions on this page.

Only 1 entry per household per contest category – Gingerbread House Showdown and/or Gingerbread Cookie Showdown. Participants must provide residential address, legal name, and date of birth at the time of entry to process the prize in the event of winning. Winners will be determined and notified on December 12, 2025 via email. Prizes will be mailed to the address provided in the entry form. 

HOW TO ENTER

To enter the Gingerbread Holiday Showdown, simply decorate your own gingerbread house and/or gingerbread cookies*, take a photo of your creation and be sure to include a handwritten note in the photo that reads “MB Gingerbread Holiday Showdown 2025” and then submit your entry using our entry submission for at www.shopmarketbasket.com/gingerbread-holiday-showdown-entry-form

*Entries must be original creations of real gingerbread houses/cookies made by the entrant. Any use of AI or found imagery will be immediately disqualified. Please do not include pets or children in your submission photo.

Entries can be created by more than one person, however, only 1 entry with 1 photo will be allowed per household for each category. Be sure to get the best photo that you want to be used for the voting contest! Photos may show more than 1 gingerbread house or more than 1 gingerbread cookie as long as all creations are shown in a single photo, as only 1 photo will be used for voting. Customers that wish to enter both the Gingerbread House Showdown and the Gingerbread Cookie Showdown must submit separate entries for each category showing only the house(s) for the Gingerbread House Showdown and only cookies for the Gingerbread Cookie Showdown – photos displaying both house(s) and cookie(s) in a single photo will default to the Gingerbread House Showdown contest. If multiple entries are made by entrant for one category, the first submission received will be used as the category entry.

How to enter the Gingerbread House Showdown:

    • We suggest using an undecorated gingerbread house from Market Basket’s Bakery.
    • However, you could use any gingerbread house kit.
    • You could also make a gingerbread house from scratch!
  • Once your gingerbread house is complete, place a handwritten note that says “MB Gingerbread Holiday Showdown 2025” next to your gingerbread house(s) and take a photo. The note must be handwritten and featured in the photograph, this cannot be digital text superimposed over the image.

CONTEST VOTING

All eligible entries received during the submission period will move on to our Gingerbread Holiday Showdown voting week. Voting will begin at 11am on Monday, December 8th and close at 11am on Friday, December 12th. 

All Gingerbread House Showdown and Gingerbread Cookie Showdown entries will be displayed on Market Basket’s website for voters to vote for their favorite entry in each category. Only 1 vote per person per day will be allowed. Voters may return daily to cast votes until the voting period closes. 

The popular vote will determine the winner of each contest.

WINNER SELECTION

At 11am on Friday, December 12th, the Gingerbread House Showdown entry with the most votes will be crowned our 2025 Gingerbread House Showdown Winner and the Gingerbread Cookie Showdown entry with the most votes will be crowned our 2025 Gingerbread Cookie Showdown Winner. Winners will be announced on Market Basket’s social media pages at 12pm on 12/12/25.

Participants who enter both the Gingerbread House Showdown and the Gingerbread Cookie Showdown will only be eligible to win one of the contests. If both entries made by one entrant receive the highest votes within their respective category, the submission with the most votes out of the two will be deemed the winning entry for the entrant. The runner-up with the second highest number of votes will then take the place of the winner for the category of the eliminated submission.

Two additional winners will be selected from among all eligible entries to receive a $100 Market Basket Gift Card. These winners will be selected at random on 12/12/25.

  1. PROMOTION DESCRIPTION: The MARKET BASKET “GINGERBREAD HOLIDAY SHOWDOWN” (“Contest”) begins on November 27, 2025 at 10:00am ET and submissions close on December 3, 2025 at 11:59pm ET (the “Promotion Period”). The sponsor of this Contest is DEMOULAS SUPER MARKETS INC. (“Sponsor”). This promotion is not affiliated with Instagram, Facebook, Threads, or X/Twitter. By participating in the Contest, each Entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor is responsible for the collection, submission or processing of Entries and the overall administration of the Contest. *All Gingerbread Holiday Showdown participants who submit an entry within the Promotion Period will be entered into a raffle drawing to win a $100 Market Basket Gift Card. There will be 2 randomly chosen winners from all eligible entries.

Winners will be determined and notified on December 12, 2025 via email. Prizes will be mailed to the address provided in the Entry Form. 

Gift cards and gift certificates are subject to the terms and conditions of the issuer. Prizes cannot be transferred, redeemed for cash or substituted by the winners. Restrictions, conditions, and limitations may apply. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prize items. This Contest is open to legal residents of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut and Prizes will only be awarded to addresses within said locations. All federal, state and/or local taxes, fees, and surcharges are the sole responsibility of the winners. Failure to comply with the Official Rules will result in forfeiture of the prize.

All Entries must be submitted by the end of the Promotion Period in order to participate. Sponsor’s database clock will be the official timekeeper for this Contest. Found images, AI generated images, or any other artificial submissions will be disqualified, at the discretion of the Administrator. Automated or robotic Entries submitted by individuals or organizations will be disqualified. Contest gingerbread submission and internet entry must be made by the Entrant. Any attempt by an Entrant to obtain more than the stated number of Entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations, logins or any other methods, including, but not limited to, commercial contest/sweepstakes subscription notification and/or entering services, will void Entrant’s Entries and that Entrant may be disqualified. 

Market Basket has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the contest, to void entries for any reason, including, but not limited to; multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by contest rules; or the use of bots, macros or scripts or other technical means for entering. The company reserves at its sole discretion the right to choose an alternative qualifier in the event that a qualifier has been disqualified or is deemed ineligible. The company will not accept screenshots or other evidence of winning in lieu of its validation process.

  • Two randomly selected winners will be chosen from among all eligible Gingerbread Showdown submissions on December 12, 2025

Entrants who enter both the Gingerbread House Showdown and the Gingerbread Cookie Showdown will only be eligible to win one of the contests. The random drawing for the $100 Market Basket gift card will be conducted on December 12, 2025 by Administrator or its designated representatives, whose decisions are final. Odds of winning will vary depending on the number of eligible Entries received. Market Basket has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the contest, to void entries for any reason. The company reserves at its sole discretion the right to choose an alternative qualifier in the event that a qualifier has been disqualified or is deemed ineligible. The company will not accept screenshots or other evidence of winning in lieu of its validation process. 

  1. WINNER NOTIFICATION: Gingerbread Holiday Showdown Contest Winners will be notified via email, sent to the email address provided on the Entry Form.
  2. PRIVACY & TERMS OF USE: Any personal information and media supplied by you will be subject to the privacy policy and terms of use of the Sponsor, posted at www.shopmarketbasket.com/privacy-policy.

  3. TAMPERING WITH CONTEST: Entrants found tampering with or abusing any aspect of this Contest, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be in violation of criminal and/or civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

  4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By entering you agree to release and hold harmless Market Basket and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not (“Released Parties”). Sponsor assumes no responsibility or liability for (a) any incorrect or inaccurate entry information, or for any faulty or failed electronic data transmissions; (b) any unauthorized access to, or theft, destruction or alteration of entries at any point in the operation of this Contest; (c) any technical malfunction, failure, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or communications line failure, regardless of cause, with regard to any equipment, systems, networks, lines, satellites, servers, camera, computers or providers utilized in any aspect of the operation of the Contest; (d) inaccessibility or unavailability of any network or wireless service, the Internet or website or any combination thereof; (e) suspended or discontinued Internet, wireless or landline phone service; (f) any injury or damage to participant’s or to any other person’s computer or mobile device which may be related to or resulting from any attempt to participate in the Contest or download of any materials in the Contest; or (g) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned for reasons which may include without limitation, infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest in whole or in part. In such event, Sponsor shall immediately suspend all drawings and prize awards, and Sponsor reserves the right to award any remaining prizes (up to the total ARV as set forth in these Official Rules) in a manner deemed fair and equitable by Sponsor.
